Follow up question- when the “come back” happens from the service department, does the service department charge their regular retail rates? I imagine pushy sales reps needing to argue with sleezy service department managers over the bills 🙂

Worst case scenario, their little doggy will walk around wearing the collar you sent in – subliminal branding messages are being sent anyways. This is a win-win innovation!

37. Knowing how long a used car has been on the lot can help you get a better price. Here’s how to find that information. Dealerships run vehicle history reports from Carfax or AutoCheck when cars come in as trades. Ask to see the car’s report, and make a mental note of when the report was printed. If the date is recent, then the car is likely new to the lot and there’s not much bargaining opportunity. But if the report is more than 60 days old, that’s a good indication the dealership is willing to move on the price.
(6) Leverage the media and traditional press: While much is new about the Tesla Model S and the accompanying sales and marketing model, one thing is not: the dependence on traditional media. Tesla has been a master at driving press coverage, reviews, and awards for its cars. It’s clear that the company has worked hard to position the brand with the media and to make sure the right messages come through. The company’s #1 message is that they are trying to build the best car ever made and not just the best electric car. This message is frequently repeated by the press.
If you buy a car that is financed through the dealership, the dealer CAN cancel the contract, but only if it notifies you within 10 days of the date on the purchase contract. This type of financing is sometimes called a “spot delivery.” It is based on the language of the purchase contract. Look at your purchase contract. That’s the long yellow document that says “RETAIL INSTALLMENT SALES CONTRACT” at the top. Turn to the back of the purchase contract, and find the box that says “Seller’s Right to Cancel.” It is at the bottom of the second column.
You don’t follow-up with your customers and start making excuses for why someone won’t buy a car from you. Everything is “Whoa-Me.” There’s no traffic coming in the store, it’s raining, it’s hot, it’s too cold outside. We don’t have any cars, get my point yet?
